Red Paint PowWow The Fourth Annual Red Paint PowWow is a competition among Native Americans from across the continent, held in memory and recognition of the Chihene Apache who lived — and continue to live — in Southwestern New Mexico.
Traditional dancers compete for prizes in a number of categories, accompanied by native drummers and singers. Doors open at 9 am daily, and Native American handmade products are available inside the arena and outside throughout the powwow.
Chocolate Fantasia Valentine's Day means “chocolate” in downtown Silver City, when MRAC rounds up local chocolatiers to create unique treats. Meander downtown between 30 chocolate-serving sites, meet friends and neighbors, visit shops and art galleries in the Historic District.
Tour of the Gila The 21st Annual Tour of the Gila bicycle race in May, 2007, will bring hundreds of the world's best bicycle riders and teams to Grant County. With support from state, county and local government agencies, Grant County businesses and thousands of spectators every year, the Tour of the Gila has grown in stature and prize money to become one of the premier destinations on the bicycle racing tour.
