18th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade
November 29, 2008
The annual Lighted Christmas Parade winds through Historic Downtown, with terrific seating and viewing on Bullard Street.
The quite-nearly world famous Silver City Lighted Christmas Parade is a
joyous holiday event and an annual tradition for 15 years.
Civic, school and community groups dress floats and participants in
holiday costumes and trim their parade entries in garlands of lights.
Downtown streetlights are extinguished for the parade, turning the
winding parade into a twinkling and intimate family event.
Great viewing for the parade is
available anywhere along Bullard Street in the heart of Historic
Downtown. November nights are typically cool but not cold, adding to
the holiday spirit while making the evening parade comfortable to watch
and enjoy.
The Parade is sponsored annually by the Silver City MainStreet Project.
Partnerships with individuals, businesses, corporate donors, the Town
of Silver City, and state agencies have made the Silver City MainStreet
Project an integral part of local economic development. Since 1985,
MainStreet has provided business services, developed infrastructure
improvements, and promoted historic preservation and design support.
There are now more than 200 retail and service businesses, nonprofit
organizations, art studios, churches and government services in the
Historic Downtown district.
